ZO2SMART START GUIDE
To avoid damage to your hearing, make sure all volume levels are turned down
before putting on headphones. Potential hearing damage may occur if you listen at
high volume levels for extended periods of time. If you experience ringing in your
ears, reduce the volume level to prevent permanent damage.
This manual is only for ZO2.3 devices featuring both a low and high gain mode.

CHARGING
• When the battery is low, a secondary red LED in the LightBar will blink.
• To recharge the battery, connect the mini-end of the supplied USB charging cable to ZO’s
charging port, and the other end to your computer’s USB port.
• When charging, the charge status indictor light will turn on. When fully charged, the light
willautomaticallyturno.
To properly maintain the battery, go through at least one charge cycle per month (fully
charge the battery, then let it completely drain).
CONTROLS
Powering On/O
• To turn ZO on, push in and release the switch. The LightBar will illuminate.
• To turn ZO o,pushinandholdtheswitchuntiltheLightBarturnso.
Contour Prole Selection Mode
• Whenturnedonforthersttime,ZOautomaticallygoesintothismode,andthemiddle
contourproleisselected(orangeLightBar).
• ZOhas32contourprolesforadjustingthesoundcharacteristicsofSmartVektor™
technology. To select other contour proles, rotate the switch upwards or downwards (at
theminimumcontourproletheLightBarisgreen,andthemaximumproleisred).
The switch can select settings using single steps or by scanning. When the switch is
rotatedbriey(<1sec.),settingsarechangedbyonelevel/prole.Whenheldrotated,
the switch scans through the settings.
• To adjust the volume, rotate the switch upwards or downwards (the intensity of blue
increases or decreases as volume level is raised or lowered).
• To enter high gain mode,increasethevolumetomaximum(purpleLightBar).Then,rotate
andholdtheswitchupwardforapproximately3-5seconds(oruntiltheLightBarturns
pink).
• To switch back to contour prole selection mode when in either low or high gain, push in
and release the switch.
Low gain mode is not recommended for use with a headphone out connection, as
the volume level may not be sucient.
Low / High Gain Selection Mode
• Incontourproleselectionmode,pushinandreleasetheswitchtoentergainselectmode.
• Onrstuse,ZOwillbesettohigh gain mode (pink LightBar).SinceZO’svolumeisxedin
this mode, use the volume control on your audio source to adjust loudness.
• To exit high gain mode and enter low gain mode, rotate the switch downwards (LightBar
willturnpurple).ZO’svolumewillbeatthemaximumlevel.
High gain should only be used when connecting to the headphone out from your
audio source. If using a line-out dock, low gain mode should be used to adjust the
volume level, starting at the lowest volume level.

SETUP
This step will vary depending on the audio source used. When in doubt, consult the device's
manual before making these necessary adjustments:
• Set bass and treble to neutral levels
• Turnotheequalizer(EQ)orsetittoa"at"preset
• Turnosoundenhancement,noisereduction,orvirtualsurroundsound/3Deects
It is essential that all EQ settings associated with your audio source or listening
device be properly neutralized (in particular, bass levels turned down), as this could
signicantly impact the sound quality.
TROUBLESHOOTING
If ZO does not turn on:
• Make sure the battery is charged
If no sound is heard, or sound is intermittent:
• Make sure ZO is turned on
• Try raising the volume of ZO
• Put ZO into high gain mode if using headphone out from audio source
• Checkplayer/audiosourceforpowerandvolume
• Check the plug connections
• Tryadierentcable
If the audio sounds distorted:
• Tryadierentcable
• MakesuretheEQontheaudiosourceisturnedo
• Tryalowercontourprole
• Makesureanyotheraudioenhancementsareturnedo
• Reduce the volume of your audio source, and increase the volume of ZO
• Reduce the volume of ZO, and increase the volume of your listening device
If the battery does not charge:
• Make sure the port is USB 2.0
• Make sure your computer is turned on or out of sleep mode
• Tryadierentchargingcable
If noise is heard when ZO is charging:
• Use a USB wall adapter instead of your computer for charging
