The following operating instructions will assist you in using your OpenPhone IPC
and answer most of the questions that may arise.

OpenCom 100, OpenCom X300 and OpenCom 1000
Product Families
This user guide applies to the OpenCom 100, OpenCom X300 and OpenCom 1000
product families. If a reference is made in the text to the OpenCom, the description
applies to all systems; if the individual characteristics are different, a special note is
given.
OpenCom 100 Product Family
This product family comprises the OpenCom 107, OpenCom 130, OpenCom 131,
OpenCom 150 and OpenCom 510 communications systems.
OpenCom X300 Product Family
At the moment this product family comprises the OpenCom X320 communica-
tions system.
OpenCom 1000 Product Family
This product family comprises the OpenCom 1100, OpenCom 1200,
OpenCom 1300 and OpenCom 1010 communications systems.

1. General Information
The OpenPhone IPC is a system terminal that can be operated using the
OpenCom 100/X300 or OpenCom 1000.
This system terminal is a PC-software based communications solution. No specific
hardware, other than the communications system, is required to operate the
OpenPhone IPC.
The OpenPhone IPC’s technology is based on VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol).
PC versions of all system telephones from the OpenPhone 7x product range are
available for the OpenCom 100 and OpenCom X300 communications systems,
and for the OpenCom 1000 communications system, the OpenPhone 73 and
OpenPhone 75 system telephones can be used.
In this user guide, those features of the OpenPhone IPC which set it apart
from the hardware-based system telephones OpenPhone 71, OpenPhone 73 and
OpenPhone 75will be described.
Note: For more information on operating the
OpenPhone IPC, please refer to the “OpenPhone 71, 73, 75”
user guide.
The OpenPhone IPC is available in two different versions: one with an active tele-
phone user interface and one without a user interface. The OpenPhone IPC
without the user interface can be integrated into Microsoft Outlook (for outgoing
calls).
Product-related licence keys are required for the operation of different communi-
cations systems.

1.1 Abbreviations and Terminology
AEC (Acoustic Echo Cancellation):
Filters out frequencies emitted by the speaker that would be picked up by the
microphone, preventing the caller at the other end from hearing their own echo.
Codecs:
Compression (and decompression) of audio data, in real time, before transpor-
tation via the Internet Protocol, thus reducing network load.
DirectSound:
Application programming interface developed by Microsoft for controlling the
sound card. Makes it possible to simultaneously output the audio data of multiple
applications.
Dynamic Jitter Buffer Adjustment:
Smooths out delays caused by varying network utilisation, that can occur during
transportation of real-time audio data via the Internet Protocol.
RAS (Remote Access Server):
Makes the creation of a network connection via a modem, ISDN or DSL possible.
RTP / RTCP (Real Time Protocol / Real Time Control Protocol):
Protocols for transporting real-time audio data via the Internet Protocol.
Skin:
Interchangeable graphical user interface.
TAPI (Telephony Application Programming Interface):
A programming interface developed by Microsoft and Intel for telephony applica-
tions that use Microsoft Windows.
TSP (TAPI Service Provider):
Hardware-dependent driver module providing TAPI functionality for specific
devices (e.g. for the the OpenCom 100, OpenCom X300 and OpenCom 1000).
VAD (Voice Activity Detection):
Recognizes speech pauses that are then not sent so as to reduce network load.

OpenPhone 7x/7x IP system telephones

2. Installation
Please note that to install OpenPhone IPC you must have administrator rights for
your PC.
1. Run the “IPhoneSetup.exe” file.
2. Select the language in which the instal-
lation is to be made and click on OK.
3. Click on Next.
4. Now select the directory on your hard
drive into which you would like to install
OpenPhone IPC and confirm by clicking
on Next.

5. Select the desired version:
OpenPhone IPC with Interface:
OpenPhone IPC with an interface for
mouse and/or keyboard operation. This
alternative is skin-capable and can also be
used with a CTI application.
OpenPhone IPC without Interface:
OpenPhone IPC without an interface can
only be used with a CTI application and
cannot be used without a CTI application.
If you have selected the OpenPhone IPC
with an interface, you can now select the
skins you would also like to install and
then click on Next.
Activate one of the plugins listed if a corre-
spondig component is installed on your
PC, then click on Next.
6. Select the directory in the Start menu in
which OpenPhone IPC is to be installed,
then click on Next.
