Introduction
The Defender Max Ultra Solar Security Light is a solar powered light with an extremely bright 1200
lumen output. The light is extremely bright, with 150 super bright white LEDs. The unit is easy to
install and comes with 4.7m of cable to attach the solar panel to the light unit.
The unit has a manual On-O-Auto switch which allows the user to keep the light on
constantly, o or on automatic, which uses the PIR to automatically switch on the light when
somebody walks past.

Caution
• Do not install the light close to people or cars. Keep out of reach of children.
• Do not install the unit close to flammable items.
• Do not stare directly into the light.
Charging the Battery
To charge the unit, connect the solar panel to the light unit using the attached cable ensuring the
solar panel jack is fully inserted into the socket in the light unit. Ensure the solar panel is facing the
sun and wipe the panel regularly as dirt can aect the battery eciency.
Installation
The Defender Max Ultra Solar Security Light comes with a 4.7m cable to connect the light unit and
the solar panel, allowing the two units to be 4.7m apart. Decide on the location of the light,
ensuring the solar panel is in a location that receives full, direct sun for a minimum of 8 hours a
day. Mount the light unit 2-3 meters above the ground on a solid surface capable of supporting
the light even in windy conditions. The unit must be installed high enough to provide eective
motion detection and light distribution.
Use the mounting bracket provided as a template, mark the holes that need to be drilled,
ensuring there are no cables or electrical lines behind the wall. Drill the holes and install the wall
plugs. Place the mounting bracket back over the holes and thread the enclosed screws to secure
the bracket in position. Do the same for the solar panel unit. When both units are mounted on
the wall, carefully install the Defender Max Ultra to the bracket and attach the power cord to the
light. Adjust the motion detector head below the light by moving it left or right so that it faces the
desired area. Move it up or down by turning the dial located on the neck of the motion detector
head. Tighten the dial when the desired position has been reached.
Operation
Before first use it is recommended that the unit is in full sunlight for 3 days to allow the battery to fully
charge. Turn the switch on the light unit to the “OFF” position to prevent accidental triggers. When the
unit is fully charged move the switch to “AUTO” or ”ON”.
The light has 3 functions “OFF”, “AUTO” and “ON”.
OFF This is the middle position of the switch- the unit is o and the light will not turn on.
AUTO Move the switch to the left. The light will turn on automatically at night when motion is
detected by the unit.
ON Move the switch to the right. The light is constantly on.
The Defender Max Ultra has three adjustable lights which can be positioned independently from left to
right or tilted up and down.
Adjusting the settings
The Defender Max Ultra Solar Security Light has 3 adjustable settings: duration (TIME), sensitivity to light
(LUX), sensitivity to motion detect (SENS).
LUX (Light level)
• The LUX control is used to control when the light should come on.
• If the dial is set to the maximum level (towards the ), the light will go on
in most situations ranging from dark to daylight.
• If the dial is set to the minimum setting (towards the ), the sensor will
only trigger the light to turn on at dusk or when it is dark out. This is the ideal position for general
evening and night operation. If the light is not operating at night due to interference from a street
light or other interference, turn the LUX knob towards .
TIME (Duration)
• The TIME control is used to set the duration of time that the light should stay lit after motion is no
longer detected in the field of vision.
• The TIME is adjustable from 8 seconds to 2 minutes. Moving the dial clockwise will increase the
duration, moving it anti-clockwise will decrease the duration.
SENS (Sensitivity)
• The SENS control adjusts the range of motion detection.
• The minimum position provides a range of 6m.
• The middle position provides a range of 9m.
• The maximum position provides a range of 12m.
NOTE: The motion detector is the most sensitive to movement across the detection zone rather than
the movement towards or away from the light.
Battery replacement
The battery is located in the light unit. Turn the switch to ‘OFF’. Remove the screws from the back of
the unit and remove the old battery. Replace with an identical 3.7V 18650 lithium-ion battery pack and
connector. Replace the cover and secure it with the screws.
Maintenance
When storing the unit indoor for more than 2-3 days, ensure the light is fully charged and turn the
switch to ‘OFF’. Store the light in a dry location free from dust and debris. Ensure the solar panel is free
from dirt, dust and grime as this will aect the ability to eciently charge the battery.
