THE NEXUS HAND

Anything Is
Possible

Foreword
Six engineers sat down in a room with a blank sheet of paper, a pen, and an
idea to create the world’s leading upper limb prosthetic hand.
Two years later the Nexus Hand launched - mechanical calculations checked
and rechecked; electrical circuit boards designed and tested; computer
code programmed and verified; engineering drawings drafted and reviewed;
production facility built and commissioned; final product manufactured,
tested, and approved.
We wanted to create the best robotic hand system in the world and we
believe that we have done it.

1.0 Introduction
Our company name, COVVI, is a portmanteau of the Latin ‘Coperer’ and ‘Vita’, translating as
‘working together’ and ‘life’. COVVI was conceived to change many lives by working together
- within our team and stakeholders, with clinicians worldwide, and with our users.
We entered the prosthetics industry in 2017. Commitment and focus have got us to where we
are today. After years of hard work, drive, and passion, we are proud to announce Nexus, the
new multi-articulated hand by COVVI.
Both names were formulated to reflect our single driving intention to change multiple lives
together forever through harnessing endless connections to make anything possible. With
our names came our ‘delta’ logo, which also has meaningful origins as a symbol of change
and doing things dierently.
Partners in Prosthetics

First and foremost, we are so pleased to have been picked by you and your patient as the most
appropriate prosthetic hand that will fit their needs.
Our team is experienced in the field of prosthetics and therefore understands the daily challenges
of prosthetic use and have worked hard to overcome these issues in the design of the Nexus
Hand. Function and robustness have been our two primary goals. We also appreciate that the
appearance of a prosthetic hand is very important for users. We designed the Nexus Hand
based on measured data collated from human hands to give it a natural form with novel colours
and materials to create a concept that users will be proud to wear.
The Nexus Hand was designed to withstand the necessities of daily activities; however, it should
not be subject to excessive force. Please refer to Section 5 (Pages 14-16) for more information
on our safety guidelines. As seen in Section 11.3 (Page 32), please note that the Nexus Hand
is recommended with COVVI products.
The Nexus Hand should only be fitted
by a Certified Prosthetist.
This symbol is used in instances to warn about hazardous or dangerous materials
and/or objects and will be used throughout this document.
We do not recommend the use of carbon fibre materials in a fabricated socket
unless it is grounded to the carbon fibre lamination.
This product uses semiconductors that can be damaged by electrostatic discharge
(ESD). The Nexus Glove can be removed, but no further disassembly can be done.
All disassembly and/or repairs below this level can only be conducted by certified
technicians with training from COVVI. Any disassembly performed by unauthorised
personnel will not be covered under warranty. Any disassembly performed by
unauthorised personnel will not be covered under warranty.
