Boresight Alignment Procedure
Instruction Sheet
INTRODUCTION
The following instructions outline Boresight Adjustment on any Roadster, Mirage, Matrix, DLV,
Christie DS and Christie DW model projector.
Boresight alignment ensures the projection lens is precisely parallel with the exit-face of the prism and
that the correct distance exists between the exit face and the input of the projection lens. Typically, this
procedure is performed whenever a lens mount is replaced to ensure the displayed image has optimum
focus in all four corners and the center.
NOTICE: Projectors must be serviced in a clean environment to prevent dust particles from settling on
optical components.
TOOLS REQUIRED
Lens cap with pinhole in center (Recommended, but not necessary).
WARNINGS
Replacement must be performed by qualified Christie service personnel only.
Observe all electrostatic precautions.

INSTRUCTIONS
NOTE: For DLV1400-DX and DLV1920-DX models, refer to Boresight Alignment for Fixed Lens
Mount Models, on page 3.
1. Set the spacing behind screws 1a, 2a, 3a and 4a
to 4mm. Refer to Figure 1.
2. Load the “GRID” internal test pattern (Figure
2).
3. Using the IR keypad, use to enable
the green only.
4. Focus the lens on the screen at the correct size
for the throw ratio of the lens (approximately
center of focus range). See Figure 2. For 0.73
lenses only, set the focus adjustment ring to
mid-range.
5. Ensure the projected image is perfectly square
on the wall with no visible horizontal or vertical
keystone. If vertical keystone is observed, adjust the projector’s feet until it is level and the image
appears rectangular.
6. Adjust the horizontal and vertical lens offsets
until the image is centered in the lens (Figure
3). NOTE: Use a lens cap with a pinhole in the
center or hold a sheet of paper in front of the
lens and then center the image.

You are now ready to perform a precision boresight alignment on the projector to achieve the best
possible uniform focus.
1. Back off each corner locking screw (1b, 2b, 3b, & 4b) - refer to Figure 1).
2. Observe which portion of the image is out of focus. For example if the top left corner of the image
is out of focus than you will need to adjust screw 3a until that point is correctly focused (see Grid
Test Patterrn at right).
3. Then, observe the bottom right corner of the image, which will now be out of focus. Adjust screw
1a to correctly focus that point. NOTES: 1) You will have to alternate adjustments to both screws
until both points come into focus (or fairly close to focus). 2) Observe the opposite corners while
performing these adjustments as those opposite corners may come into focus as you are adjusting
the first 2 corners.
4. Adjust screw 2a until the top right corner is in focus.
5. Adjust screw 4a until the bottom left corner is in focus.
All four corners plus the center should now be correctly focused. NOTE: If the alignment process
causes the image to shift side-to-side or up and down by more than a few inches, re-center the image
using the lens cap with pinhole. Adjust the horizontal and vertical offsets to bring the image back to
the center. The image may have to be checked and re-centered a few times throughout this procedure.
BORESIGHT ALIGNMENT FOR FIXED LENS MOUNT DLV1400-DX AND
DLV1920-DX MODELS
When aligning boresight on the DLV model prjector, ensure the points below are observed:
• Use a 1.2:1 fixed lens.
• Focus the image as outlined in the steps above.
