SUBJECT: RE-START DIFFICULTY AFTER BRIEF OPERATION

MODEL: 400000, 440000, 490000 EQUIPPED WITH READYSTART®

SERIAL NUMBER: 131001xxxxx THROUGH 150923xxxxx

CONDITION:

We have received limited field reports of some subject engines exhibiting difficulty re-starting after short run periods of

approximately 5 minutes. Upon examination, we determined that the gap between the thermostat arm and the choke

rod retainer was out of tolerance. This prevented the choke valve from opening as required for the warm engine

temperature. This condition did not present any starting difficulty on cold or hot engines.

INSPECTION / REPAIR ACTION:

If this condition is encountered, ensure the engine is cold (room temperature) and perform the following procedure:

1. Ensure the governor control (A, Figure 1) is in the idle (clockwise) position.

2. Visually check whether the thermostat arm (B) is touching the choke rod retainer (C). Correct gap is .000-

.050” (.00-1.27 mm).

If the gap between the thermostat arm and the retainer is .000-.050” (.00-1.27 mm), the setting is

correct. Actuate the choke lever to ensure freedom of movement with no binding. Correct as

necessary. Go to step 3.

If the gap between the thermostat arm and the retainer exceeds .050” (1.27 mm), adjust the

thermostat arm as follows:

a. Using a tang bender or similar tool, carefully bend the thermostat base (circle, Figure 2) until

the arm just touches the choke rod retainer (arrow).

b. Visually check that the gap between the thermostat arm and the choke rod retainer is

.000-.050” (.00-1.27 mm).

c. Actuate the choke lever to ensure freedom of movement with no binding. Correct as

necessary.

3. Start and run the engine for 5 minutes, then shut down. After 1 minute, attempt to restart engine to verify that

the condition is corrected.

Normal warranty guidelines apply. This repair can typically be completed in 15 minutes or less. When filing a warranty

СЪСТОЯНИЕ:

Ние получихме ограничени полеви доклади за някои двигатели изпитващи затруднения при повторно

стартиране сред кратки периоди на работа от около 5 минути. След преглед установихме, че хлабината между

рамото на термостата ификсатора на щангата на дросела еизвън допуска. Това възпрепятства отварянето

на дроселната клапа според необходимостта за температурата на затоплен двигател. Това състояние не

причинява затруднение при стартиране на студени или горещи двигатели.

ИНСПЕКЦИЯ / РЕМОНТНО ДЕЙСТВИЕ:

Ако възникне това състояние, уверете се, че двигателят естуден (със стайна температура) иизпълнете

следната процедура:

1. Уверете се, че управляващото устройство (A, фигура 1) евпозиция за празен ход (по часовниковата

стрелка).

2. Визуално проверете дали рамото на термостата (B) докосва фиксатора на щангата на дросела (C).

Правилната хлабина е0,000-0,050” (0,00-1,27 mm).

Obdrželi jsme od zákazníkůněkolik hlášení, že některé konkrétní motory vykazují obtíže při opětovném startování po

krátkém přibližně5minutovém chodu. Po prošetření jsme zjistili, že mezera mezi ramenem termostatu a držákem

táhla sytiče byla mimo toleranci. To bránilo škrticí klapce v otevření nezbytnému pro vyšší teplotu motoru. Tento stav

nevyvolával žádné obtíže se startováním u studených nebo zahřátých motorů.

KONTROLA / OPRAVA / KROKY:

Pokud se tento problém vyskytne, přesvědčte se, že je motor studený (pokojová teplota), a proveďte následující

postup:

1. Přesvědčte se, že regulátor otáček (A, obrázek 1) je ve volnoběžné (zleva doprava) poloze.

2. Vizuálnězkontrolujte, zda se rameno termostatu (B) dotýká držáku táhla sytiče (C). Správná mezera je 0,000-

0,050” (0.00-1,27 mm).

Pokud je mezera mezi ramenem termostatu a držákem 0,000-0,050” (0,00-1,27 mm), nastavení je

správné. Zahýbejte s páčkou sytiče a ujistěte se, že se pohybuje volněbez omezení. Podle potřeby

proveďte seřízení. Pokračujte krokem 3.

Pokud mezera mezi ramenem termostatu a držákem překračuje 0,050” (1,27 mm), seřiďte rameno

termostatu následovně:

a. Pomocí stopkového ohýbače nebo podobného nástroje opatrněohněte základnu termostatu

(kroužek, obrázek 2), dokud se rameno nedotkne držáku táhla sytiče (šipka).

b. Vizuálnězkontrolujte, že mezera mezi ramenem termostatu a držákem táhla sytiče je 0,000-

0,050” (0,00-1,27 mm).

c. Zahýbejte s páčkou sytiče a ujistěte se, že se pohybuje volněbez omezení. Podle potřeby

proveďte seřízení.

3. Nastartujte a nechte motor běžet po dobu 5 minut, potom jej vypněte. Po 1 minutěse pokuste motor znovu

nastartovat a ověřte, zda byl problém odstraněn.
