IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed

including the following:

• Read all instructions.

• Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.

• To protect against ﬁre, electric shock and injury to persons, do not immerse cord,

plugs, base or kettle in water or other liquid.

• Never leave the appliance unattended when in use. Close supervision is necessary

when any appliance is used by or near children.

• Unplug from outlet when not in use, no water in kettle, ﬁlling water, moving kettle

and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking o parts, and before

cleaning the appliance.

• Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance

malfunctions, or has been damaged in any manner. Call our toll-free Customer

Assistance Number for examination, repair or adjustment.

• Do not use a base unit other than the one supplied. The use of accessory

attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may result in ﬁre,

electric shock or injury to persons.

• Do not use outdoors.

• Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces. Always

store excess portion of the power cord in the compartment of the base unit.

• Electric kettle must be operated on a ﬂat surface. Do not place on or near a hot gas

or electric burner, or in a heated oven, or on the top of other electric appliances.

• Always attach plug to appliance ﬁrst, then plug cord into the wall outlet. To

disconnect, turn control to o, then remove plug from wall outlet.

• Do not use appliance for any purpose other than intended use.

• To avoid circuit overload, do not operate another high wattage appliance on the

same circuit.

• Do not ﬁll kettle when positioned on base. Remove all moisture on the bottom of

the body before placing it onto the power base.

• Be aware of steam being emitted from spout or lid especially during reﬁlling. Do

not remove lid during boiling cycle.

• Do not use the kettle to heat anything other than water. Do not ﬁll above the

‘’max’’indication. Do not operate kettle if water is below minimum marking. If the

kettle is overlled, boiling water may be ejected. The kettle is only to use with the

base unit provided.

• Do not insert any object into slots or holes of the kettle.

• Scalding may occur if the lid is removed during the boiling cycles.

• If the supplied cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its

service agent, or a similarly qualied person in order to avoid hazard.

• The appliance can be used by children ages 8 years and older and persons with

reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities or lack the experience and

knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use

of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Cleaning and

user maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are older than 8 and

supervised.

• Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children less than 8 years old.

• Ensure the removable power cord is fully connected to the base before plugging

it into an outlet.

• WARNING: Do not remove the lid while water is boiling

• WARNING: Position the lid so that steam is directed away from the handle.

EXTENSION CORDS

A short power-supply cord is to be provided to reduce the risk resulting from becoming

entangled in or tripping over a longer cord. Longer detachable power-supply cords or

extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use. If a

longer detachable power-supply cord or extension cord is used,

1) The marked electrical rating of the cord set or extension cord should be at least as

great as the electrical rating of the appliance, and

2) The extension cord should be a grounding-type 3-wire cord, and

3) The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop

or tabletop where it can be tripped over, snagged, or pulled on unintentionally

(especially by children).

GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS

This appliance must be grounded while in use.

CAUTION: To ensure continued protection against risk of electric shock, connect to

properly grounded outlets only.

GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS

In North American markets the appliance has a plug that looks like Figure A. Kettles sold

outside of North America include removable power cords for use with electrical outlets

in those markets. DO NOT attempt to insert a power cord into an incompatible

outlet. Appliance damage, electrical system damage or physical harm may result. An

adaptor, as shown in Figure B, should be used for connecting a 3-prong grounding

plug to a 2-wire receptacle. The grounding tab, which extends from the adaptor, must

be connected to a permanent ground such as a properly grounded receptacle as

shown in Figure C, using a metal screw.

Warning: This appliance utilizes a high wattage relay for arriving at the desired water

temperature. In some instances, this relay may cause slight ickering of lights on the

same circuit. It is best to use this appliance on a dedicated circuit or with all other

appliances o during this appliance’s use. It will not damage electrical systems but

caution should be used to not overload this circuit with other appliances running at

the same time.

Note: Before plugging the kettle into the wall outlet, check that the electrical circuit is not

overloaded with other appliances.

1) Setting Up the Kettle:

• Set the base (7) on a ﬂat, steady surface.

• Insert female end of the removable power cord into the

base (7) rmly.

• Plug the power cord (20) into a grounded wall outlet

(illustration A), the base will beep twice and the Power

icon (12) will be visible.

2) Preparing the Kettle for First Time Use:

• Remove the kettle from its base (7), and remove lid (2)

from the kettle.

• Fill the kettle to the “Max” ll line (5) with cold water

(approx. 0.9L) (illustration B).

• Replace the lid (2) with vent holes (3) facing away from

the handle (4) (illustration C).

• Place the kettle back on its base (7).

• Press the Power icon (12) (illustration D).

◦All icons will be visible on the base if the kettle is

present.

◦If kettle is not on the base (7) , then the timer will be

visible (See timer section on page 11 of this

manual).

• Press the Smart Boil icon (13).

• Bring water to a boil, then empty the kettle.

• Allow the appliance to cool down for 1 minute.

• Repeat boil and rinse procedure twice before using your

Brewista kettle.

3) Normal Use:

• Remove the kettle from its base (7), and remove lid (2) from kettle.

• Fill the kettle to desired level above the “Min” ll line and below the “Max” ll line

with water (illustration B).

• Replace the lid (2) with vent holes (3) facing away from the handle (illustration C).

• Place the kettle back on its base (7).

• Press the Power icon (12) once to turn on the kettle, then press the Power icon again

(illustration D).

◦The Power icon (12) and the Target Temperature (9) will ash for 3 seconds.

◦During that 3 second interval, press the [ + ] or [ - ] icons [(19) or (18)] if needed

to change the target temperature.

• The kettle will heat the water to the target temperature, displaying Actual Water

Temperature (11) on the right side of the LCD Readout (10).

• You will hear 3 beeps when the target temperature is reached.

• The kettle’s KeepWarm function will automatically maintain the desired temperature

for one hour.

◦The LCD Readout (10) will continue to show the actual water temperature.

◦Once the Keep Warm cycle is complete, the LCD Readout will show the actual

water temperature for the next 10 minutes of inactivity before the base

enters Sleep Mode.

• To stop the heating cycle, press the Power icon (12) again or lift the kettle from its

base.

• After 10 minutes of inactivity, the base will enter Sleep Mode.

4) Selecting the Temperature Display, Fahrenheit or Celsius:

• When the base (7) is powered on and the kettle is on the base, press and hold the

Temperature Setting icon (17) for 3 seconds to access the temperature unit setting.

◦Press the [ + ] or [ - ] icons [(19) or (18)] to toggle between Fahrenheit and

Celsius.

◦After 3 seconds of inactivity, the last selected unit of measurement will be

stored, even if the base is unplugged.

◦For USA and Canada models, the default temperature unit for your Brewista

Artisan Kettle is Fahrenheit (°F). For models in the rest of the world, the default

temperature unit is Celsius (°C).

5) Setting the Temperature

IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ: At higher altitudes, water boils at lower temperatures.

Refer to the chart on page 13 of this manual that lists the approximate boiling temperature

for various elevations.

Brewista kettles use proprietary adaptive safety software that monitors the temperature

at which water reaches a boil. Once the boiling temperature has been determined

by the kettle, it will not exceed that temperature. When this function is activated,

manually selected and preset temperature readings higher than the determined boiling

temperature will be replaced with the word “boil” on the LCD readout. Refer to page 13

for instructions to disable this software.

Unplugging the base will reset the boiling temperature. Once the kettle is plugged in and

set to boil, the adaptive monitoring process begins again, and the maximum temperature

will be adjusted to the boiling point for the elevation at which the kettle is being used.

• Selecting a Preset Temperature:

◦Press the Temperature Setting icon (17). The Target Temperature reading (9)

will ash. Press the Temperature Setting icon again to toggle through the

preset temperatures (see below):

-The factory preset temperatures are: 60 °C (140 °F), 80 °C (176 °F), 85 °C

(185 °F), 96 °C (205 °F) and 98 °C (208 °F).

-The factory default temperature is 96 °C (205 °F)

◦Press Power icon (12) to begin the heating cycle.

◦When the set temperature is reached, three audible beeps are heard.

• Manually Setting the Desired Temperature:

◦Press the Temperature Setting icon (17). The Target Temperature reading (9)

will ash.

◦Press the [ + ] icon (19) or [ - ] icon (18) to change the Target Temperature by

one degree.

◦Press and hold the [ + ] icon (19) or [ - ] icon (18) to change the Target

Temperature rapidly.

-The kettle’s temperature range is 60 °C - 98 °C (140 °F - 208 °F)

◦Once you have reached your desired temperature, wait 3 seconds and the

Target Temperature will be stored.

Notes:

• To manually interrupt the heating process, press the Power icon (12) or remove the

kettle from the base at any time.

• Once the temperature has been set, it is stored in memory and will be recalled the

next time the kettle is turned on. The factory default temperature of 96 °C (205 °F)

will no longer be active after a dierent temperature is set.

• During the heating cycle, the LCD Readout (10) will display current water

temperature. The LCD Readout will continue to show the water temperature for

one hour after the heating cycle has completed if the kettle is not removed from

the base.

• If the kettle is removed from the base during the heating cycle, the heating cycle

will turn o, the Power icon (12) indicator light will remain on, and the LCD will

display “00:00”. When the kettle is returned to the base, the display will show the

current water temperature for 1 hour.

• To resume the heating cycle and/or keep warm function, the user must press the

corresponding icons once the kettle is returned to the base.

6) Smart Boil Function

• Press the Smart Boil icon (13). The icon will ash and the LCD Readout will display

the Actual Temperature (11) on the right and the word“boil” in the upper left.

• The Smart Boil function brings the water to boiling temperature as quickly as

possible.

• Once the kettle’s water has reached boiling temperature (varies based on your

altitude), you will hear 3 beeps and the Smart Boil function will stop.

• The Actual Temperature (11) inside the kettle will be displayed for 10 minutes

before the kettle enters Sleep Mode.

• To stop the Smart Boil function, press the Smart Boil icon (13) or Power icon (12) at

anytime during the cycle.

• You may also enter the Smart Boil function during a normal heating process by

pressing the Smart Boil icon (13).

7) Program for Automatic Use (Auto Brew Function)

• Note: The Auto Brew time is the time at which the automatic heating cycle will be

complete.

• To program your Auto Brew function:

◦Press and hold the Auto Brew icon (16) for 3 seconds. The target temperature

will ash on the right side of the LCD Readout (10).

◦Press the [ + ] icon (19), [ – ] icon (18) to select or set the desired Auto Brew

temperature.

◦Set the Auto Brew time:

-Press the Auto Brew icon (16) again.The Auto Brew time will display on

the right side of the LCD Readout (10), with the hour digit(s) ashing.

-Press the [ + ] or [ – ] icons [(19) or (18)] to change the hour portion of

the Auto Brew time.

-Press the Auto Brew icon (16) again and the minutes portion of the

Auto Brew time will ash.

-Press the [ + ] or [ – ] icons [(19) or (18)] to change the minutes portion

of the Auto Brew time.

◦Set the Current Time:

-After setting the Auto Brew Time (see above), press the Auto Brew icon

(15), the hour of the current time will ash on the left side of the LCD

readout.

-Press the [ + ] or [ – ] icons [(19) or (18)] to change the hour portion of

the current time.

-Press the Auto Brew icon (16) again and the minutes portion of the

current time will ash.

-Press the [ + ] or [ – ] icons [(19) or (18)] to change the minutes portion

of the current time.

◦Once the Auto Brew Time and current time are correct, wait for 3 seconds for

these times to be stored.

◦To activate the Auto Brew function, press the Auto Brew icon (16) one time.

The Auto Brew icon will light up and the Auto Brew symbol will appear on the

lower right of the LCD Readout (10).

• 8 minutes prior to when the programmed Auto Brew time, your kettle will turn on.

• Once the Target Temperature has been reached, 3 audible beeps are heard. The

kettle will then enter the Keep Warm function for the next 60 minutes, unless any

icon is pressed or the kettle is lifted from the base.

• To cancel the Auto Brew function,

◦Press the Power icon (12) at any time

◦Press the Auto Brew icon (16) before the heating cycle has begun.

Notes:

• The Auto Brew icon (16) must be pressed to activate the function after being set.

The Auto Brew icon is illuminated and the LCD Readout (10) displays the Auto Brew

icon in the lower left.

• Press the Auto Brew icon (16) again before the program starts to cancel the

Auto-start function.

• When the programmed Auto Brew time is reached, the heating process will

be complete.

• If the Auto Brew time and current time are less than eight (8) minutes apart, the
