INTRODUCTION
A. Presentation
Joey is a smart water analysis device for swimming pools and spas. It functions in conjunc-
tion with the "Joey Pool Analyser" app, available for compatible Android™ or iOS smart-
phones or tablets.
The analyser takes measurements and sends them to the application. You can thus check
your water parameters more efficiently.
Joey measures:
- The temperature of the water: if the temperature is too high it reduces the effectiveness
of disinfectant products and promotes the proliferation of microorganisms.
- The pH: pH is the abbreviation for potential hydrogen. This value measures the acidic or
basic nature of an environment. The pH contributes to the effectiveness of the disinfectant.
- The disinfectant level (ORP / REDOX): the active chlorine measurement recorded by the
ORP probe is a voltage expressed in millivolts (mV), which represents the varying oxidising
(and therefore disinfectant) properties of the water.
- The conductivity (μS): Joey only measures the conductivity for swimming pools that are
fitted with a salt water chlorinator. The conductivity is used to determine if the water in your
swimming pool contains sufficient salt for your chlorinator to function correctly.
The salinity (or more precisely, the total salt level) is measured based on the conductivity.
The salinity measurement recorded by Joey is expressed in grams per litre (g/L) of TDS
("Total Dissolved Solids"). It is an estimation of the total quantity of species dissolved in the
pool, based on the hypothesis that the main species is sodium chloride (NaCl or table salt).
Sodium chloride increases the conductivity of your pool water, depending on its concen-
tration. An estimation of the sodium chloride level based on the conductivity will have a
greater deviation if other unknown salts are present in the water. This deviation can be
verified using colorimetric detection strips specific to sodium chloride.
The "Joey Pool Analyser" application also allows you to determine the ambient temperature.
Subject to a subscription, you also get access to premium features: tips and personalised
notifications with dosages adapted to your preferred treatment product, a history of your
recorded measurements, remote recovery of measurements recorded automatically by the
analyser, 5-day weather forecasting and UV indices...
B. Precautions for use
- Do not use Joey for anything other than water analysis.
- Joey is not a toy. Avoid subjecting it to impact, as this may cause damage.
- Keep Joey out of reach of children during handling (e.g. calibration and standby mode)
on account of the use of chemical products. Store calibration products out of reach of
children.
- Do not open the top panel of the device (except when replacing the battery). Follow the
instructions for replacing the battery carefully. Damage caused to the inside of the analyser
by liquids is not covered by the warranty.
- Do not open the bottom panel of the device that contains the probe (unless replacing the
probe). Follow the instructions for replacing the probe carefully. Damage caused to the
inside of the analyser by liquids is not covered by the warranty.
- Make sure that you do not allow the probe to dry out. If you remove the device from the
water, you must screw it to the storage base with KCl (saturated potassium chloride), with
a pH of 4, or as a last resort, store in tap water with a healthy dose of table salt.
- Do not use demineralised water in the storage base.
- Make sure that the top section of the device is out of the water, to enable the function of
hte communication system.
- Do not leave Joey in water that is colder than 5°C or hotter than 50°C.
- Retain the serial number and code 1(key) of your Joey.
- Store Joey in a frost-free location, and in a vertical position.
CONTENTS OF THE BOX
The Joey analyser: it is delivered in the storage base in
order to protect the probe during transport. The probe is
immersed in KCl (saturated potassium chloride), which
ensures its protection.
The storage base: it is used to transport the device out
of water, and for immersed sensors during prolonged pe-
riods of storage (during the winter season, for example).
The usage cap: this must always be placed onto the device
prior to it being placed in the water. It protects the sensors
from any impact.
The cord: it allows you to hook the device to a fixing point.
The quick-start guide: it helps you when starting up the
device.

Configuration menu in your application.
