Read this instruction manual before installing the Mate child restraint in your
vehicle.
Thank you for choosing an Axkid child seat. Our team has over 30 years
combined experience within child safety, and we have done our utmost
to make the Mate child seat as safe as possible. The Mate child restraint is
approved according to ECE R44/04, the latest European standards for child
safety. To maximise your child’s safety it is important that you keep the following
in mind;
Important Information
Read this instruction manual carefully before installing the Mate child
restraint. If in doubt, contact your retailer who can demonstrate a correct
installation. An incorrect installation could endanger your child.
Do not use a child restraint in a seating position where an active airbag
is tted. If you still wish to install the Mate in this location the airbag must
be disconnected at an authorised service centre. Some vehicles may be
equipped with a switch which allows you to manually switch the airbag
o. It is important to always check if the vehicle’s indicator light shows
that the airbag is turned o.
DO NOT use anything such as a cushion or coat to raise the booster seat
o the passenger seat. In the event of an accident, the booster seat and
the vehicle seat belts will not be able to protect your child as well as they
should.

Car interiors can become very hot when left in direct sunlight. The booster
seat may become hot and should be covered up.
The booster seat cover is a safety feature. NEVER use the booster seat
without it. Don’t put your child’s safety at risk by using other makes of
replacement cover; they could stop the child seat from protecting your
child as well as it should.
All passengers should be secured in their seats using a safety belt.
Ensure all passengers know how to release your child in case of an
emergency.
Ensure the booster seat does not become trapped by any moveable
seats or doors within the vehicle.
Should you have an accident, no matter how small, your child restraint
should be replaced. It may have damage that is undetectable and could
seriously jeopardize your child’s safety. For this reason Axkid do not
recommend purchasing second hand child restraints.
Do not use any load bearing contact points other than those specied in
these instructions and marked on the child restraint.
Ensure any luggage or loose objects are secured in your vehicle as they
may cause injuries to passengers in the event of a collision.
Never leave your child unattended in the car.
Do not use the booster seat in the home - it has only been designed to be
used in a car.
Store this instruction manual under the seat cover for future reference.

Notices
1. This is a “Universal” child restraint. It is approved to Regulation No. 44, 04
series of amendments, for general use in vehicles and it will t most, but not all,
car seats.
2. A correct t is likely if the vehicle manufacturer has declared in the vehicle
handbook that the vehicle is capable of accepting a “Universal” child restraint for
this age group.
3. This child restraint has been classied as “Universal” under more stringent
conditions than those which applied to earlier designs which do not carry this
notice.
4. Only suitable if the approved vehicles are tted with 3 point safety-belts,
approved to UN/ECE Regulation No. 16 or other equivalent standards.
5. If in doubt, consult either the child restraint manufacturer or the retailer.
6. Child car seats can mark vehicle seat upholstery. The manufacturer cannot
be held responsible for damage or marking to vehicle seats.
7. The following situations could be illegal and will void the warranty: a) Any
modications or change of use of the child car seat that have not been
authorised or advised by the manufacturer. b) Any failure to t the child car seat
in strict accordance with the instructions.
The manufacturer accepts no liability for issues arising from unauthorised
modications, uses or tting.
8. Please keep this manual safe for any possible queries you may have in the
future.

The Mate booster seat is suitable for use from approximately four years
of age up until the age of twelve. This child restraint can ONLY be installed
forward-facing.

IMPORTANT: If you wish to install the booster seat in a location where
an airbag is tted, then the airbag must be disconnected at an authorized

Position the booster seat on a suitable passenger seat, ensuring it is
pushed back against the backrest. Place your child on the booster
seat and fasten the seat belt across your child. The lap section of
the belt should sit as far forward as possible over the hips and pass under
both armrests. Adjust the seat belt to t your child and remove as much
slack as possible, ensuring the straps are not twisted.
Check that the shoulder belt lies across your child’s shoulder
properly and does not lie across their neck.
If the shoulder belt is resting against your child’s neck then the belt
clip (C) should be used to curve the shoulder belt over the child’s shoulder
giving a more secure t.
Adjust the belt clip strap (B) so that the belt clip (C) is just able to lie
on the child’s shoulder and then attach the belt clip to the shoulder
belt. Check that the shoulder belt is now lying correctly across your
child’s shoulder. If the belt is still resting against your child’s neck adjust the
belt clip strap until you have a correct t.
Note: The belt clip is permanently attached to the underside of the booster
seat and should not be removed. When not using the clip; wrap the strap
around the clip and tuck it under the booster seat side-fabric.

WARNING: The cover is a safety feature.
Never use the child car seat without it.
Starting at the rear of the seat, pull the polyester cover over the
plastic shell of the seat. Carefully pull the cover down towards the
front of the seat ensuring the cover material does not rip or tear.
To replace: feed the cover over the armrests then pull the cover over the
seat.

Care And Maintenance
The seat cover is removable and should be hand washed at 30º C.
Do not put the cover in a dryer as this can damage the cover and
the padding may separate from the fabric. See the seat cover for full
instructions.
Any plastic parts of Mate can be cleaned with mild detergent and
water. Do not use aggressive chemicals containing solvents etc, as
this can cause damage to the plastic and compromise the safety of
the child restraint.
All materials used in the Mate child restraint are recyclable and should
be recycled as per your local legislation. Ask your local recycling
centre for advice when recycling this product.
Do not make any modications or alterations to the Mate child
restraint other than those described in this instruction manual. Follow
the instructions in this manual carefully. Any repairs must be carried
out by the manufacturer or agent.

If the seat cover needs replacing ensure only original products from
Axon Kids are used. If other products are used the Mate’s safety
system may be compromised and could lead to severe injury or
death in case of an accident.
All materials used have a very high UV-resistance rating. However,
UV-light is very aggressive and will ultimately lead to fading of the
seat cover. This is not covered by our warranty as it is considered
normal wear and tear.
Warranty
The Mate child restraint is covered by a 24 month warranty from date
of purchase. Ensure you save your receipt and bring it to your place of
purchase should you have any warranty issues. The warranty does
not cover:
* Normal wear and tear
* Damage due to incorrect use, neglect or accident
* If repairs have been carried out by a third party
