Riskswithrepainting
ThereareseveralriskswhendisassemblingorassemblinganAxisproduct.Thereisalwaysacertainyieldlossduringassembly.Training
ofoperatorsandtheuseofcorrecttoolsmediatessomeoftheproblemsbuttheycanneverbefullyavoided.Someoftherisksinclude:
ESDDamage-AlwayshandletheproductinanESDsafeenvironment.EvenifprecautionsaretakenthereisalwaysariskofESD
damage.Thedamagecanremainundetectedandcauseproblemsduringthelifetimeoftheeuipment.
Paintoverspray-Maskingthedifferentcomponentsoftheeuipmentiscritical.Failuretomasksensitiveareascancauseproblems
withassemblingtheeuipment.Anyareasthatarenotpaintedatfactoryorhaveadifferentsurfacetreatmentthantherestofthe
parts(threads,groundandelectricalcontactsurfaces)mustalsobemaskedtoensurefunction.

•Ifapplicable,disassemblethedeviceaccordingtotheinstructionsinthisdocument.
•Cleanallpartsthatwillberepaintedthoroughlytoremovegrease,dust,oroil.
•Toensurereassemblyandfunctionalityoftheproduct,maskanyopenings(forexampleforscrews,LEDindicators,
ormicrophones)beforeyoupaint.

Dependingonthepartmaterialandtypeofpaintappliedatfactory,differentpretreatmentshouldbedoneforthenewpaintto
adhereaswellaspossible.Cleanthepartsproperlytoremoveoil,greaseanddust.
Powdercoatedparts-Useaprimer.Alternatively,removetheoriginalpowdercoatingdowntothebasematerial,usingne
sandpaper,andcleanthepartsbeforepainting.
Anodisedandchromatedparts-Useaprimer.
Uncoatedstainlesssteel-Nospecialpretreatmentisneeded,butmakesurethatthesurfaceiscleanbeforepainting.
Plastic-Useaprimer.

Disassembly
1.LoosentheTR10screwunderneaththefaceplate.
2.Openthesecuritylatch.
3.Tiltthefaceplateoutwardsawayfromtheframe,andthenpullthefaceplatedowntodetachit.
4.Pressandslidethespeakermeshonthebackofthefaceplateupwardstodetachit.

Masking
1.Applythemaskingontheinnersurfaceofthebuttonhole.
2.Applythemaskingapproximately3mmfromtheouteredgeandcovertheentirebacksideofthefaceplate.
Repainting
1.Tomakesureallnecessarypreparationsofthefaceplatehavebeenmade,seePreparationsonpage3.
2.Applyathinandevenlayerofspraypaintaccordingtotheinstructionsofthepaintmanufacturerontheentirefront
andsidesofthefaceplate.

Reassembly
1.Reattachthespeakermesh.Makesurethatthegroovesonthespeakermeshfacetowardsthefaceplate.
2.Reattachthefaceplate.Makesuretoplacethefaceplateatananglebeforeclosingit.
3.Firstmakesurethefaceplateisfullyclosed,beforeclosingthesecuritylatch.
4.TightentheTR10screw.
