4. Summary of functions and buttons

4.1 Function overview

YL80C can provide a lot of functions for Avantrek Bikers. The indicating contents are as follows:

4.3 Button definitions

There are five buttons on the operating unit of display YL80C, i.e., the on/off button , plus button , minus

button

, backlight button and switching

5. General operation

5.1 Power On/Off

Press and hold the button around 2s (if you’ve remembered to switch on your battery first...), the display will start to work. In the power-on state, by

pressing the button , your e-bike will be powered off. In the power-off state, the display will no longer use the battery power, and its leakage current will be

less than 1uA. If your e-bike is not used for more than 10 minutes, the display will be automatically powered off.

5.2 Display Interface

After the display is turned on, the display will show the real-time speed (mile/h) and the trip distance (mile) by default.

Press the button , the information displayed will be switched between the trip distance (miles), ODO (mile), maximum speed (mile/h), average speed

(mile/h) and riding power.

5.3 Walk Assist Mode

Press and hold the button around 3 seconds, your e-bike motor will start to run at a uniform speed of 6km/h (3.73mph) and will continue to do so whilst you

press that button. The display will show . By releasing the button , the walk assist mode ends and the display reverts to as it was.

NOTE: The Walk Assist Mode can only be used when you are pushing your e-bike uphill. Please DO NOT use it when normal cycling.

5.4 Backlight On/Off

Press the button , the display backlight will turn dark; press the button again, the backlight will light up.

5.5 Pedal Assist

Press the button

to change the assistance provided by your motor.

5.7 Error Code Indicator

Getting error codes on your Avantrek Bike is not something you want to see. Sometimes an error code could mean a loose wire, or other times a sensor could be

damaged. Use the error code chart below to find out what the error on your LCD display means.

Below are the most common errors on Avantrek Bikes:

Current Sensor Fault

The controller’s current sensor has become disconnected or damaged. Contact tech support.

Handle Fault

Throttle may be damaged. Check the throttle cable for damage.

Motor Phase Line Fault

At least one of the motor’s phase wire has been disconnected or damaged.

Motor Hall Sensor Fault

At least one of the motor’s hall sensor wires has been disconnected or damaged. Disconnect

and reconnect the motor cable.

Brake Fault

Unplug brake pads, and to check each brake, restart the bike. If the error remains, try a new

controller after unplugging the brakes.

Communication Fault

Poor connection between the controller and the display. Check all cable connection. Check

for corrosion damage.

6. Safety Notes

The Avantrek eBike LCD display is only for use with a compatible Avantrek Bike model.

Always switch off all power at the main bike battery before disconnecting or reconnecting the LCD display.

Take particular care to lineup the male connector plug of the display with the female plug on the bike. Check for the orientation arrows on each part and use

minimal force.
