Thank you for choosing Auray.
The Auray RF-C20 Professional Studio Isolation Filter provides
music producers, broadcasters, and podcasters with a solution
for advanced microphone isolation. It’s designed with four layers
of acoustic treatment to absorb unwanted ambient noise and
control acoustic reflections. When recording vocals, voiceovers,
or podcasts in acoustically untreated rooms, the RF-CF20 creates
clean and dry recordings.
The filter employs a layer of acoustic composite fiber to absorb
unwanted noise. A vented-metal mesh oers natural and open-
sounding recordings while preventing bounce-back reflections.
And the RF-C20 sets up easily on medium to heavy-duty boom and
standard mic stands.

Setting Up the RF-C20
It is important to attach the RF-C20 Professional Studio
Isolation filter to a stand that
can support its sturdy build. We
recommend you use a heavy-duty
tripod mic stand such as the Auray
RFMS-580 Reflection Filter Tripod
Mic Stand.
Attaching the RF-C20 with
the Clamp
1. Loosen the clamp, and fit it onto
the mic stand's shaft. 1
2. Tighten both locking wheels until
secure. Alter the angle with the
adjustment wheel. 2
Attaching the RF-C20 with the 5/8 in. Adapter
1. Loosen the depth locking knob, and separate it from the
extension bar.
2. Place the opening of the L-bracket
over the stand’s 5/8-inch threaded
mic mount, and screw on the 5/8-
inch adapter. Leave the adapter a
little loose so you can adjust the
mic depth if needed. 3

Attaching a Microphone
1. If you’re using a handheld-style
or shotgun microphone, attach a
mic clip (not included) to the 5/8-
inch mic mount.
If you’re using a large-diaphragm
microphone with a shock mount,
attach the shock mount to the
5/8-inch mic mount, and tighten
until secure. 5
2. Make sure the mic is facing you,
and use the star nut to further
secure the attached shock mount.
You can adjust the mic’s direction
by loosenting the star nut and
rotating the mic assembly to
face you. 6

Adjusting the Microphone Position
Microphone Height
1. Support the mic or filter
assembly with one hand, and
rotate the height locking wheel
counterclockwise to loosen. 7
2. Raise or lower the L-bracket or
filter to adjust the mic height, and
tighten the locking wheel until
secure. 7
Microphone Depth
1. Support the mic or filter
assembly with one hand, and
slightly loosen the 5/8-inch
adapter. You may need to use
extra force to rotate the adapter,
but do not loosen all the way. 8
2. Slide the assembly to the desired
depth. The farther away the
microphone is from the filter, the
more room ambience you will
record. 8
3. Rotate the adapter clockwise until
secure.
