1. Preface
1.1. FCC Notification
This device complies with part 15 of the FCC rules. Operation is subject to the following conditions: (1) This
device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received,
including interference that may cause undesired operation.
Changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the
user's authority to operate this device.
1.1.1. FCC Interference Statement
Note: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device,
pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against
harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio
frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful
interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a
particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception,
which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the
interference by one or more of the following measures:
•Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
•Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.
•Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is
connected.
•Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.
1.1.2. Radiation Exposure Statement
This equipment complies with FCC radiation exposure limits set forth for an uncontrolled environment. This
equipment should be installed and operated with minimum distance 25 cm between the radiator and your
body.
This device and its antenna(s) must not be co-located or operating in conjunction with any other antenna or
transmitter except in accordance with FCC multi-transmitter product procedures.
To comply with FCC regulations limiting both maximum RF output power and human exposure to RF
radiation for the ALG-5530, maximum antenna gain must not exceed 3dBi for the cellular bands. Maximum
antenna gain for the 2.4 and 5 GHz WiFi bands must not exceed 5dBi.

2. Product Overview
2.1. General Description
The ALG-5530 offers a single, flexible platform to address a variety of wireless communications needs with
over-the-air configuration and system monitoring for optimal connectivity. Designed for public safety and
government, the rugged ALG-5530 maximizes reliability without sacrificing function.
The ALG-5530 features the OpenWrt router operating system for unparalleled flexibility and functionality.
Over 2000 software packages are available for features ranging from firewall management to VoIP
diagnostics.
Multiple communications and technology systems are consolidated into a single routing platform
incorporating an embedded global LTE module with fallback to 3G, GPS/GLONASS receiver, class 1
Bluetooth transceiver, WiFi (Access Point and Client modes), and Ethernet.
Due to the vast array of installable software packages along with associated configuration options, this
manual will not fully depict all user interface elements.

2.3. External Interfaces
2.3.1. Power
Power is supplied via the 4-pin Molex micro-fit 3.0 connector and is pin-for-pin compatible with the ALG-
6000 cellular router.

2.3.2. Peripherals
The ALG-5530 includes wired peripheral support for USB, USB On-the-Go, Ethernet, and RS-232 serial.
Peripherals include the following:
RESET Press and hold to reset device to factory default settings.
USB OTG USB On-the-Go port (USB Micro-B connector). Reserved for Atlas Labs custom interfaces.
USB HOST USB Host Port (Type-A connector)
ETHERNET Ethernet port (x2 RJ45 connector)
