Safety Instrucons
When using any electrical appliance, basic safety precauons should always be
followed, including:
This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and
persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilies or lack of
experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instrucon
concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards
involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user
maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are older than 8 and
supervised. Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children less than
8 years old.
Always ensure the voltage on the rang label corresponds to the voltage in
your home.
Check the power cord and plug regularly for any damage. If the cord or the
plug is damaged, it must be replaced by a qualied electrician or a service
repair centre. If in doubt please contact our customer service team.
The appliance is intended for domesc use only. Industrial or commercial
use will void the warranty. The supplier cannot be held responsible for injury
or damage if the appliance has been used for anything other than its
intended use.
Incorrect operaon and use can damage the appliance and cause injury to
the user.
Do not use the appliance if it has been dropped or damaged in any way. If
the unit has been damaged take the unit for examinaon and or repair by an
authorised service agent.
Do not immerse or expose the motor assembly, plug or the power cord in
water or any other liquid for any reason.
If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or by
someone who is suitably qualied to avoid a potenal hazard.
Do not let the cord hang over the edge of a table or counter. Ensure that the
cord is not in a posion where it can be pulled or tripped over accidentally.

Do not allow the cord to touch hot surfaces and do not place the cord near
hot gas, electric burners or in a heated oven.
Always remove the plug of the appliance safely. Do not pull on the
appliances cord to remove the appliance plug from the electrical socket.
Never handle or operate the appliance with wet hands.
Do not use this appliance with accessories that are not supplied.
When the appliance is in use, do not move the appliance or leave it
unaended.
The Steam Wand/Nozzle becomes very hot during use. This may cause
burns when touched. Do not direct the steam nozzle towards yourself, or
others.
To avoid burns, never remove the water container or porta lter when
brewing coee or frothing milk, unl the operaon is complete.
The metal parts of the porta lter will be very hot aer use; hold by the
handle only.
If the machine is turned on but not in use, the auto-o funcon operates
aer about 30 minutes.
To turn on the machine again, press the ON/OFF switch to return it to O
posion and then press it to ON posion.
At this point the main indicator light turns on and the machine will be in
operaon again.
Descaling the appliance
To keep the espresso maker working eciently, the espresso maker may need
descaling (you will noce the brewing takes longer). This will depend on the water
in your area and how oen the espresso maker is used. As a guide, you should
descale your machine every 30 days.
Citric acid made for descaling coee makers can be used, using the following
procedure:
Pour the descaling soluon into the water container.

Follow the ‘Brewing Espresso’ secon on page 10 (without coee in the
porta lter), switch the appliance on and run through each funcon. Allow 5
minutes between the use of each funcon.
Aer descaling, ll the water container with clean water and let the water
run through each cycle unl the container is empty.
Rinse the porta lter with warm water.
Descaler can be purchased from all good supermarkets.
You can also descale your appliance using a mixture of dislled white vinegar and
one part water.
To do that, follow the instrucons below:
1. Mix one part water with one part dislled white vinegar.
2. Run the soluon through the machine once, but make sure to remove any
coee rst. Once the soluon has run through, discard.
3. Rinse the machine by running fresh water through it three mes.
Note: The espresso maker parts are NOT dishwasher safe.

Sengs
Follow the instrucons on pages 6,7,8 and 9 in order to prepare the Barista Espresso
Coee Maker for the brewing process.
The operang dial has three sengs:
1. Dispenses steam or hot water through the steam nozzle.
2. O Pump is switched OFF.
3. Pump is ON; espresso is dispensed.
Once the operang dial is turned from the neutral posion O, the steam nozzle or
the boiler outlet will open, steam or hot water will then be discharged. Once the dial
is turned back to O, the discharge of hot water or steam will stop.
Before using for the rst me
Before using the appliance for the rst me, all detachable parts must be cleaned as
outlined in the “Care and Cleaning” secon. Ensure all parts are reed before
plugging the appliance into the mains. Flush the system through with hot water as
follows:
1. Fill the water container with water.
2. Place the lter sieve into the porta lter (without any ground coee).
3. Place a suitably sized container under the boiler outlet openings.
4. Plug the appliance into the mains.
5. Set the HOT WATER/STEAM selector to the hot water posion.
6. Using the ON/OFF Switch, turn the appliance on, and turn the operang
dial to Hot water will be dispensed from the outlets.
7. Leave the appliance running unl half of the water from the water container
has been dispensed.
8. Switch o the pump by turning the operang dial to a neutral posion.
9. Empty the container and place it under the steam nozzle. Turn the operang
dial to

10. Water will be dispensed through the steam nozzle as soon as the heang
light goes out. Care must be taken to avoid burning.
11. When the amount of water le in the water container has reached the ‘Min’
mark, switch the pump o by turning the dial to the neutral posion.
12. If the appliance has not been used for a long period of me, the same
procedure should be used.
Brewing System
The brewing system consists of the following parts:
The boiler outlet is marked with and symbols to support the
aachment of the porta lter.
The porta lter has 3 protrusions on the rim which help you lock the porta lter
onto the boiler outlet.
Inserng/removing the porta lter
1. Place the porta lter (which has already been lled with ground coee) with
the handle in line with the unlock icon on the le side of the coee
spout.
2. Then push the porta lter upwards and under the machines espresso spout.
To ensure it is fully inserted, hold the porta lter in one hand and place the
other hand on top of the machine.
3. Rotate the handle in an an-clockwise direcon unl it is under the lock icon
on the side of the espresso spout.
4. The porta lter will then t ghtly into the machine. When ed correctly it
will be at against the machine with the handle perfectly centred at the front
of the espresso maker.
5. Do not aempt to remove the porta lter during use.
6. Once the brewing cycle is complete, wait around 30 seconds before
removing the porta lter.

Filling with water
Fill the water container with fresh water daily. Clean the container regularly.
Ensure the water container is lled before the appliance is switched on. To ll:
Li the water container lid and ip it back.
Li out the water container.
Fill the water container with cold water, ensuring the water is not lled
above ‘Max’.
Slide the container back into the appliance, ensuring it is pushed down unl
it clicks.
Close the lid on the water container.
Note:
Ensure the water level is monitored and relled when necessary.
If the water container becomes empty during operaon, turn the dial to O
and ll the water container with the required amount of water. As the
pump may have started to take in air from the empty water container, once
relled it may take a few moments before the water is dispensed again.
Any deposits of dirt or lime scale may cause the valve and the seals
surrounding to leak. Ensure the seals are checked before each use, and
when necessary, cleaned to remove dirt or lime deposits.

Preheang cups
Preheang the cups and the porta lter will ensure a higher coee temperature for
your enjoyment.
Plug the appliance into the mains supply and press the ON buon. The blue
heang light will illuminate.
Insert the chosen lter sieve (1 or 2 cups) into the porta lter, but do not
insert any coee into the porta lter.
Insert the porta lter into the boiler outlet and place one or two cups
underneath.
Turn the operang dial to
Once the operang temperature has been reached, the heang light will
turn o and the hot water will ow from the boiler outlet.
When the cups are 3/4 full of hot water, turn the operang dial back to
neutral to switch o the pump.
Allow the cups to warm up, and then discard the water. Alternavely, place
the cups on the warming area to preheat them.
Adding coee
Please note, this appliance takes 44mm ESE pods.
Ensure the coee is ground before inserng into the porta lter.
Remove the preheated porta lter by the handle.
Add the appropriate amount of coee using the measuring spoon.
1 cup—1 level scoop
2 cups—2 level scoops
3. Using the measuring spoon supplied, press down the coee lightly with the
tamp. Wipe away any excess coee from the rim of the porta lter.
