1.2.1. CABINET
GENERALITIES
The SP0123/10 is a cabinet housing one SP0123/00 sub-rack and its battery bank.
SP0123/00 is a power supply sub-racks able to work with or without battery. The
converter behaves as a quasi-resistive load seen from the low voltage mains it is
connected to.
The cabinet is provided with a front door with lock. The cabinet is divided in two
parts: a location looking like a 19 inches system able to contain one or two sub-
racks above and a battery location underneath.
The 19 inches location is 10U high and contains eight soldered M6 nuts in order to
fix two sub-racks and adapted plates. Two holes (diameter 17mm) are provided in
the rear side of the cabinet for mains cable of sub-racks.
If only one sub-rack is installed, the lowest position of the 19 inches location must
be used and the upper position must be closed by the delivered 3+5U plates (for
safety and cooling purpose).
In the other case of one cabinet equipped with two sub-racks, two 3U front plates
must be placed. Each of these 3U is fixed above each sub-rack with two M6 screws.
An optional Kit (SP0123/20) is necessary to upgrade a cabinet with one sub-rack with
one with two sub-racks.

The battery location is separated from the sub-racks by a metal sheet in order to
avoid gas from the batteries to enter in the rectifier’s area. However a 34 mm
diameter hole is foreseen for the battery and earth cables.
If two battery banks are installed, the optional battery shelf must be installed in order
to dispose the second battery bank (the first bank lays on the bottom sheet of the
cabinet).
A cable channel diameter 34 mm from front to rear side is provided above the
battery location in order to pass the load cables from front to the rear side of the
system.
6x M5 studs are soldered on the left side of the battery location. The earth wire of
each installed sub-rack must be fixed on one of these studs to earth the enclosure.
The cabinet is equipped with the necessary vents for air cooling on the rectifiers and
ventilation of the batteries.
CONNECTIONS
Mains
One or two mains input electrically independent are placed at the rear of the cabinet
- Approx. 1.5m long appliance wiring material cable
- section : 3x3.31mm² (AWG12)

1.2.2. SUB-RACK
GENERALITIES
The SP0123/00 (NC 9413 001 23001) is an 2U 19 inches sub-rack aimed at housing
up to four rectifiers CAR1048TN (1000W at 230Vinput / 500W at 110V input)
This sub-rack is designed to replace the PE3657/21.
Features:
- Single phase AC input protected by 30A breaker (single pole)
- 2x 30A DC outputs
- Battery LVD management
Ventilation is performed by rectifiers’ fans (front to back)
FRONT PANEL INDICATIONS
Rectifiers
- green led on continuously : normal operation
- green led on blinking : power derating
- red led on : dc fault (Vout < 40V)
Sub-rack
- 30 A mains breaker
- 60 A battery breaker (Bat)
- 30 A output breakers (2x)
- Green led (dc voltage present)
- Dry contact for “mains absent” signal (closes when mains disappear)
- Cable lock: tie-rap support

CONNECTIONS
Connections to the mains, batteries and protective earth are located at the rear of the
sub-rack. Signal and load connections are located on the front panel.
Mains- approx. 2m long appliance wiring material cable
- section : 3x3.31mm² (AWG12)
- neutral wire marked with a “1”
- line wire marked with a “2”

Loads
The 2 outputs are located on the front panel. They are available on 4 cage-
clamp connectors (4…6mm² stranded, 4…10mm² rigid, stripping length
15mm). Technical connection using the principle of direct insertion without
tools
Reference connector: Phoenix contact SPT 5/8-H-7,5-ZB

1.2.3. BATTERY
GENERALITIES
The battery connections are 6 AWG cables coming out from the rear side of
the sub-rack and terminated with M6 tags. These cables are approx. 1.5m
long. The red one is the positive pole and connected to the chassis of the
sub-rack. The black one is the negative pole and is protected by the battery
breaker.
Figure 5: battery cable at the rear of the sub-rack
A yellow/green 16mm² wire is provided to earth the cabinet in which the sub-
rack is mounted. It is approx. 0.9m long and is terminated with a M6 eye tag.
