CONNECTIONS: FRONT PANEL
1. Connect your iPod to the docking connector on the front of the iMultiMix. Use the included thumbwheel to
adjust the back plate behind the iPod. The back plate should be adjusted to support the iPod comfortably but
not so tightly as to strain the connection of the iPod to the electrical connector built into the base of the dock.
2. Attach a pair of stereo headphones to the [HEADPHONES] jack.
iPod is a trademark of Apple Inc., registered in the U.S.A. and other countries.
iPod playback only

CONNECTIONS: REAR PANEL
Note: It is recommended that the iMultiMix be turned off before connecting and disconnecting any sources
to the inputs at the rear of the unit.
1. INPUT SOURCES
•The first five channels of the mixer accept microphones via the XLR connectors or mono line-level
sources via the ¼” connectors. The ¼” inputs work perfectly with all sorts of
different line level inputs— professional balanced TRS (Tip-Ring-Sleeve) +4dBu
inputs, unbalanced “TS” (Tip-Sleeve) connections, -10dBv (consumer-level)
sources, etc.
PHANTOM POWER
The iMultiMix can provide phantom (+48V) power for condenser microphones.
Phantom power is applied to all five microphone inputs.
CONNECTING ELECTRIC GUITARS AND BASSES
Electric guitars and basses can be connected to the ¼” inputs as well. The
combination of the [TRIM] control and the fader level on the front panel will
deliver more than enough gain to drive these sources. However, note that the
line-level inputs are relatively low impedance (600Ω-2 kΩnominal), whereas
most electric guitars and basses perform best when connected to a high-
impedance input closer to 200kΩor higher. The resulting impedance mismatch
may dull the sound of the guitar or bass. If this dulling occurs, use a direct box
to connect such high-impedance instruments to the iMultiMix.
•Channels 6/7 and 8/9 are stereo ¼” (TRS) line-level only channels. These are
ideal for connecting stereo sources like CD players and keyboards.
Channels 8/9 are switchable between either the line-level inputs on the rear of
the unit or an iPod docked at the front of the unit. Only one source or the other is active at any one time.
They are never active simultaneously.
M
icrophone or Line,
but not both
You can attach either a
microphone or a ¼” input to
each of these channels, but do
not attach both of them to the
same channel at any one time.
In extreme cases, doing so can
damage your microphone.
C
onnecting a turntable
to the iMultiMix
If you want to connect a
standard turntable to the
iMultiMix, use a dedicated
turntable-to-line-level
preamplifier.

•A pair of [2-TK] RCA jacks accept consumer-level (-10dBv) inputs from sources such as tape decks, CD
players, and MP3 players. Only connect consumer-level equipment to these jacks. Professional-level
equipment operating at +4dBu will distort unless you significantly lower the volume on such equipment.
2. INSERTS
¼” TRS jacks on channels 1-5 allow you to plug external insert effect processors (gates, compressors, pitch
correction devices, etc.) into the signal path of these channels. The insert effect is inserted into the channel
signal directly after the preamplifier (controlled by the TRIM knob on the front of the unit) and before the
channel’s EQ and fader.
The insert jacks require use of a special “insert” cable. This cable has a TRS (Tip-Ring-Sleeve) connector on one
end for connection to the iMultiMix and two TS (Tip-Sleeve) connectors on the other end. Attach the “Send”
connector to the INPUT of your external processor. Then, attach the “Return” connector to the OUTPUT of
your processor.
USING THE iMULTIMIX9R FOR MULTITRACK AUDIO
RECORDING
The [INSERT] jack may also be used as a direct output to a multitrack recorder
such as the Alesis HD24. The send from the insert jack provides the cleanest
mic preamp signal by sending the signal to the recorder prior to the iMultiMix's
EQ and fader stages. Use a standard TRS cable and insert the plug on the
iMultiMix side only to the first "click" (the ring connector). This will send the
preamp signal to the recorder without interrupting the normal signal flow
through the mixer.
3. AUXILLIARY SENDS AND RETURNS
Two pairs of auxiliary sends and returns allow you to connect effects that can be blended in with the source (or
“dry”) signals. One typical example is to use one aux send for a reverb unit, and the other for a monitor mix for
the musicians.
4. MAIN OUTPUTS
Two sets of MAIN OUTPUTS are provided—1/4” connectors operating at +4dBu (professional) level and
RCA connectors operating at -10dBv (consumer) level. Use the appropriate connectors for your recording or
PA applications. Both sets of connectors can be used simultaneously.
5. MONITOR OUTPUTS
A pair of ¼”, +4dBu outputs is provided for monitoring or recording to a two-track device.
6. VIDEO OUTPUT
This output sends the video played by an iPod out via as a composite video signal via an RCA connection.
N
oise and level
considerations
regarding unbalanced
signals
If you use the insert jacks for
recording, you will be sending
unbalanced signals to and from
your recorder. Since
unbalanced signals are more
susceptible to stray noise, take
extra care in keeping your
audio cables away from power
cables and other possible
sources of interference (like cell
phones and wireless networking
antennae).

CHANNEL FEATURES
1. TRIM: Sets the input level to the channel. Adjust
this so that the PEAK light lights on the loudest
passages, then back it down a bit.
2. EQ: Hi and Lo EQ controls provide up to 15dB
boost or cut at the indicated frequencies.
3. AUX sends: Sends the channel signal to auxiliary
processors, onstage monitors, or headphone
amplifiers.
Note that AUX1 is pre-fader and AUX2 is post
fader. As a consequence, AUX1 is better suited for
sending a signal to monitors or headphone
amplifiers, and AUX2 is better suited for use with
outboard processors.
4. PAN/BALANCE: The Pan control (mono input
channels) assigns the channel signal to any spot in
the stereo spectrum. The Bal control (stereo input
channels) shifts the balance between the left and
right inputs.
5. CHANNEL FADER: Controls the signal level of
the MIC or LINE inputs.
An additional switch on channels 8/9 selects
between line (rear) and iPod dock inputs.
MASTER FEATURES
1. POWER: Indicates that power is on.
2. PHAN: Indicates that the PHANTOM POWER is
enabled for the MIC inputs.
3. MASTER: Sets the overall volume level of the main
output bus.
4. LED METERS: Monitors the audio signal level of
the main outputs.
5. STEREO AUX RETURN: Controls the signal
level returning from the AUX inputs.
6. PHONES/MONITOR: Adjusts the level sent to
the [MONITOR OUT] jacks and also to the
headphone output.
7. MSTR/2-TK: In UP (normal) position, routes the
master fader level to the [MONITOR OUT] jacks
and the headphone output. In DOWN position,
routes the [2-TK IN] signal to the [MONITOR
OUT] jacks and the headphone output.
This switch is best utilized when a two-track
recorder is connected to the [2-TK IN] and [-10dBV
MAIN OUT] jacks on the rear of the mixer. Using
this switch, you can monitor what your two-track
recorder is recording without affecting the mix
heard by the performers and the audience.
8. PHONES: A stereo, ¼” output for headphones.
