Important instructions

When planning and erecting electrical systems the

relevant standards and regulations applicable in the

country where the equipment is set up and operated

must be duly observed.

Work on the 230V-mains system and EIB bus must

exclusively be performed by trained electrical

personnel. Laying and connection of the bus line as

well as application devices must be in conformity

with applicable guidelines specified in the EIB Manu-

al of the European Installation Bus Association (EIBA).

Please note that the UP watchdogs are not meant

to function as burglary or invasion alarm systems

since they are not adequately protected against

acts of sabotage as prescribed.

Please make sure the ambient conditions suited for

the safety class and permissible operating tempe-

rature (see "Technical Data") are met.

When mounting the UP watchdog 180 use a suitable

UP bus coupler (ABB ibus

EIB) or UP mains coupler

(ABB Powernet

EIB) – hereinafter collectively termed

UP coupler.

The devices are to be programmed using ETS2

(version 1.1 or higher) or via Power-Project (Version

3.0 or higher).

Product Description

The multi-lens of the UP watchdog offers additional co-

verage zone setting possibilities. Otherwise, all units

have identical functions.

The UP watchdogs are passive infrared motion

detectors. If a heat source is detected somewhere in

the zone of coverage of the unit, the UP sensors switch

on the connected lighting system. When the heat

source leaves the coverage zone or remains stationary

or immovable the lighting is switched off after a preset

delay period (rundown time) has elapsed.

An integrated dusk sensor enables the switching

brightness (ambient luminosity) to be set at which the

unit's monitoring function is activated.

The UP watchdogs are glare-proof, ie. if exposed to

direct light (eg. from an electric torch/flashlight) the

unit's monitoring function remains activated for approx.

1½ minutes.

The switching behavior can be parameterized using

ETS2 or Power-Project (Version 3.0 or higher (see Technical Manual

and individual windows of the parameterization software

package). Switching brightness and cut-out delay may

also be set directly on the unit.

Arrange the 10-pole connector of the UP coupler such

that the desired UP watchdog mounting position can

be realized (see Fig. 1).

The physical address of the UP watchdog is determined

via the UP coupler. Preferably, this physical address

should be entered before the unit is mounted. Subse-

quent modifications can be made but the unit has to

be dismantled for this purpose (see "Mounting /

Dismantling")

For mounting observe the following:

• The UP watchdog must be fixed to a rigid wall since

every movement of the unit has the same effect as

a heat source detected in the area monitored.

• The optimum function of the UP watchdog is ensured

if the unit is arranged laterally to the direction of

traffic (tangential approach).

• Since infrared rays do not penetrate solid objects,

the UP watchdog must have "free vision".

• Provide a minimum clearance of 2 m between sensor

and light sources directly radiating onto the unit.

Mounting Instructions

Mounting / Dismantling

Before mounting the UP watchdog, correctly arrange a

UP coupler (see Fig. 1, Item 8) in location suitable for

the UP watchdog.

• Position the UP watchdog so as to be ready for

mounting.

• Fix the covering frame (fig.1, item 5) in mounting

position (the frame is held in position by the mounted

controller).

• Mount the UP watchdog (fig.1, item 1) onto the

flush-mounted UP coupler (fig.1, item 8) in such a

way that

– the rear 10-pole plug connector (fig.1, item 3) is

notcanted;

– the fixing clips (fig.1, item 4) on the back of the

unitengage with the recesses (fig.1, item 7)

provided in the carrying ring of the UP coupler.

• Engage the UP watchdog in the carrier ring of the UP

coupler.

Dismantling: Lever the UP watchdog (Fig. 1, Item 1)

together with covering frame (Fig. 1, Item 5) off the UP

coupler's carrier ring. Take care that the plug connector

(Fig. 1, Item 3) will not cant!
