Introduction
Thank you for your purchase of 50 Cane. We hope
that it proves to be valuable to your mobility. We
look forward to 50 Cane serving you well for years to
come.
Before using your 50 Cane, it is important that you
read and understand this user manual. The contents
and instructions are available in clear ink for low
vision users, and in braille for blind users. Please save
these instructions for future reference.

Knowing your 50 Cane Device
1) Hold the 50 Cane in your hand. Ensure that the
braille keys are positioned on the right side of
the device. This is necessary for 50 Cane to
function as intended.
2) There are three braille keys present on the
right side of the device.
B. The Second Key (middle
position), dened by the
Braille letter “S”,
is used to toggle the
sound feedback
on and off.

On the left-hand side of the device, on the palm-
grip, there is a USB-C charging port. Use a small
object to open the ap. This is where the enclosed
USB cable is to be inserted when charging.
3) In the middle of the device on the left-hand
side, there is a sliding ON/OFF switch. Use this
to power the 50 Cane ON/OFF.

5) The
50 Cane
solves the problem of night
walking for you. The device emits a red ashing
light in dark areas at night, allowing other
people and cars to detect you and avoid
hitting you. This light works automatically when
the device is switched on. When holding
the
50 Cane,
avoid covering the light sensor.
6) At the top of the device are two proximity
sensors. These are used for obstacle detection.
Please ensure that your hand does not touch
or cover these sensors in order to avoid
interfering with the obstacle detection system.

7) At the front end of the device, there is a metal
screw. This is used to join the device to the
enclosed white-cane, as detailed in the
following section.

Assembling Your 50 Cane
Extend the provided white-cane. At the top, you
will nd a threaded screw hole.
1) Connect the 50 Cane device to the top of
the white-cane by joining the screw to the
screw-hole on the white-cane, and turning in
the clockwise direction.
2) Continue turning until the screw is fully
engaged.

Charging and Battery
Open the ap covering the micro USB-C charging
port and connect the 50 Cane device to the
charger via the cable provided.
For faster charging, ensure that the device is
switched OFF. When the device is fully charged, you
will hear a repeating beep. Your device is now ready
to use.
On a full charge, the 50 Cane battery can last for
up to 8 hours. When the battery is low and requires
charging, you will hear multiple repeating beeps.
The 50 Cane battery is replaceable in the event that
it stops functioning. Replacement batteries can be
purchased separately.
How to Use your 50 Cane
Before using your 50 Cane, ensure that the battery is
fully charged and that the device is fully assembled.
Please refer to the previous section for more
information on the above.
Power On
Slide the power key (on the left side of 50 Cane)
forward.
Your device is now switched on.

Adjusting 50 Cane Obstacle Detection Range
The first braille key (letter “D”) is used to toggle
between long and short-range detection modes.
Only a single press of the button is required to
switch between these two modes. By default,
the 50 Cane is set for long-range detection.
Every time you switch on the device, it resets to
the default long-range mode.
Long Range:
When set to long-range, the 50 Cane will detect
obstacles up to a distance of 2.8 meters forward,
and a height of 1 meter upwards from the
handle.
(approximately to the top of the average
human’s head).
In the presence of an obstacle in front of you in
long-range mode, you will hear one repeating
beep, and feel a vibration on the handle.
